Alpha at VEC

The Alpha Course:

The Alpha Course is run worldwide by many different churches, and VEC is one of them.  You would be most welcome to join one of our regular ten-week courses.

 

Alpha gives everyone the opportunity to find out about having a relationship with god through Jesus Christ.  Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, Alpha is a great place to investigate the truth about God with like-minded people. There's no pressure and lots of fun.  You can ask any questions you like - in fact, the harder the better!   Each week starts with food followed by a talk.  Then it’s your turn, as we give you the opportunity in a small group to air your views and see what others think.

 

Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for everyone! It’s particularly helpful for:

 

  • people who want to be in relationship with God
  • people interested in investigating whether Christianity is true
  • those who want to brush up on the basics of their faith
  • newcomers to VEC

 

 

What are the Alpha talks about?

Each talk looks at one of these important Christian topics:

 

  • Who is Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus die?
  • How can I have faith?
  • Why and how should I read the Bible?
  • Why and how do I pray?
  • How does God guide us?
  • Who is the Holy Spirit?*
  • What does the Holy Spirit do?*
  • How can I be filled with the Spirit?*
  • How can I make the most of the rest of my life?*
  • How can I resist evil?
  • Why and how should we tell others?
  • Does God heal today?
  • What about the Church?

 

    *These four talks are given on the Saturday Away Day.   

 

 

Our courses run for ten weeks, with a full Saturday Away Day as an integral and important part.  

 

Although it is best to attend all the sessions if you can, there is no commitment on your part.  If after a couple of weeks you feel that the course is not for you, you can always drop out - but we hope you won’t!

 

At VEC we are currently running a course which meets at Costa Coffee on Wednesday evenings at 7:45 pm.  

 

We can also put you in touch with churches in Sevenoaks which run it on different evenings, and at different times of the year.

There is no charge for the Alpha course, but if you wish, you are welcome to make a small donation towards the cost of the food.
